As part of their visit to the Maldives for the International Zakat Conference (INZAC) 2025, a high-level delegation from Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK) of Malaysia met with officials from the Maldives Zakat House to advance discussions on a potential collaboration to digitize zakat management.
The Malaysian delegation was led by Dr. Mohd Faisal Bin Mustaffa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and included Mohamad Zaidi Bin Azizan, Chief Collection Officer; Syed Mahamad Zuhdi Amin Bin Syed Salim, Deputy Chief Technology Officer; and Muhammad Syahir Bin Othman, Media Officer.
A key focus of the meeting was LZNK’s presentation of its innovative “Zakat on Touch” platform. The software utilizes blockchain technology and artificial intelligence to enhance transparency, efficiency, and trust in zakat collection and distribution processes. In turn, the Maldives Zakat House outlined its current operational framework and service delivery models. Both parties engaged in substantive talks on strategic measures to adapt and implement such advanced digital solutions within the Maldivian context.
This meeting marks a significant step in an ongoing partnership between the two institutions. The relationship was initiated following the participation of LZNK’s CEO in INZAC 2024 and was further strengthened by a reciprocal visit from a Maldives Zakat House delegation to LZNK’s headquarters in Malaysia. These efforts have laid a firm foundation for a continued alliance aimed at modernizing zakat administration through technology.
