English Version of ‘Shariah Principles and Standards of Zakat Collection and Distribution’ Launched at INZAC 2025

The English version of the book Shariah Principles and Standards of Zakat Collection and Distribution was officially launched at the opening ceremony of the International Zakat Conference (INZAC) 2025. The launch was officiated by Dr. Muneeza, a distinguished expert in Islamic finance.

This marks the first publication of its kind in the Maldives in English, making the principles and standards accessible to a wider international audience. The book serves as a comprehensive framework to guide the effective and efficient management of zakat in accordance with Shariah.

The principles and standards were originally formulated by the Maldives Zakat House, the institution mandated with zakat management, including collection, distribution, Shariah-compliant investment, public education, maintenance of a poverty registry, empowerment initiatives, and the announcement of nisab for Zakat al-Mal.

The English edition of the book will provide scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from across the globe with insight into the Maldives’ pioneering efforts in documenting zakat governance. It reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening zakat management, promoting transparency, and sharing best practices with the international community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Muneeza highlighted the significance of making the document available in English, noting that it will help foster international collaboration and position the Maldives as a contributor to global zakat knowledge and practice.

The launch of the English version at INZAC 2025 underscores the conference’s mission to create platforms for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and innovation in zakat administration and Islamic social finance.
