Government Gives Special Attention to Strengthening the Zakat System: Minister Dr. Shaheem

The Minister of Islamic Affairs and Chairman of the Maldives Zakat House، Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has stated that the government is giving special attention to strengthening the zakat system and advancing the Zakat House in the Maldives. The Minister said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Zakat Conference "INZAC 2025″.

Speaking at this ceremony, the Minister stated that His Excellency President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, is giving special priority to strengthening the Zakat system in the Maldives. The Minister highlighted in his speech that an important step has been taken to establish a dedicated institution for Zakat for the first time and to strengthen matters related to Zakat.

The Minister said that the Zakat House has achieved significant successes in a short period of time and that they are working hard to maintain these achievements. He also noted that for the first time, a bill related to zakat has been formulated and submitted to the parliament, which highlights the importance given to the zakat system. The Minister also mentioned in his speech that the law is designed based on the latest scientific experiences in the world.

The "INZAC 2025″ conference, held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, was honored by Professor Dr. Aishah Muneeza, Associate Dean for Students and Internationalization, International Center for Islamic Finance, Malaysia. She acknowledged and welcomed the hard work being done by the Maldives Zakat House to advance the zakat system in the country and raise public awareness about the zakat system.

The International Zakat Conference, “INZAC 2025” is a conference organized by the Maldives Zakat House with the aim of promoting a sustainable zakat system established in the Maldives. This conference is designed to bring together scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders to identify strategies for strengthening and enhancing the management of zakat as a crucial resource for social well-being and economic stability.

The conference aims to explore ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of zakat administration, focusing on its role in promoting social welfare and economic equilibrium. By facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders, the event seeks to develop innovative approaches to zakat management and distribution. The first international zakat conference in the Maldives was held in 2024.
